What is The First Definition?
It is the single concept that guarantees that the individual will triumph in the age of AI.
The individual has been falsely taught that he is the body, or a brain, or a sophisticated electronic device. This is simply not true.
The first definition is an accurate description of who or what the individual really is.
The individual is a self-determined life unit that is aware of being aware. It has power of choice and the ability to create. It can learn and improve it’s own condition. It is inherently good.
We live in a world where the power of AI has the potential to reduce our ability to reason and to enslave us.
The only real solution, and a difficult one indeed, is the rehabilitation of the individual: his awareness of self, his power of choice, his ability to perceive and reason, his ethical level and his compassion.
Much more daunting as a task than developing software systems or singing hallelujahs to political of economic systems.
How do we begin the task.
Current mental science is inadequate at best. Collective thought is eating away at our independence and creativity.
A starting point would be a proper definition of the basic building block of any human system —- the individual; and to make this definition broadly known:
The individual is an agent of cause; a self-determined life unit that is aware of being aware. It has power of choice and the ability to create.
It is not an organized collection of responses to the environment.
Its potential is virtually unlimited.
Its realities can vary widely being to being.
When aggregated individuals are subject to herd thinking.
It has a native capacity for kindness and compassion.
It doesn’t have a soul --- it is one.
It has its own relationship to the Creator.
It has the extraordinary ability to learn and improve itself.
It can create and use technology without diminishing its own ability to think and act independently. Or if in bad shape, it can use it to enslave or degrade its fellows.
